Feature Request, _IF_ the Broadcom BCM43438 is capable.

Sun May 01, 2016 11:18 pm

First post, I'll try to keep it brief!

I've used an RPi2 B+ for some time with largely positive outcome.

I'm considering an RPi3, the built in BlueTooth appeals to me.

I cannot seem to locate a data sheet for the included Broadcom BCM43438 chip. What I'd like to know is...

1) Does the Broadcom BCM43438 BlueTooth chip include a CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio, now owned by Qualcomm) chipset?
2) If so, is it a CSR chip capable of Apt-X (or, Apt-X Low Latency... I'll not push my luck hoping for Aptx HD!) audio?
3) And, if so, can Rasberry Pi Foundation compile and sell to us (like the MPEG-2 Codec) an Apt-X audio codec?

Thank you!

The BCM43438 is a Broadcom (BCM) chip. No AptX. I don't know if there is a Raspbian-compatible AptX transmitter available.
