Pi 3 won't boot latest jessie

Thu Apr 28, 2016 12:02 am

I got my new Pi 3 today and I've been trying to get it going but for some reason the OS won't boot.

When I plug it into the HDMI and add power through the Mini USB, the Pi comes on starts booting goes to black screen for a few seconds then tries to boot again and repeats and at the end no HDMI

How did you install the raspbian Jessie image to the micro sdcard? NOOBs or did you use something like diskimager? You may want to reimage it.

I used the win32disc imager that came with any one of my LCD's. I have also re-loaded the image several times.

I think it's my power source. The red light flashes every time it does the behavior I listed above.

I'm still waiting for a proper cord so I've been using a charger for some kind of Motorola product.

I just got a Pi 3 B with NOOBS 1.9 from adafruit. I also got the proper power supply from adafruit.
When I plug everything together (VGA monitor, keyboard, mouse, SD Card) and power up, the red light comes on and the green light flashes once and only once. NOTHING else happens. Screen is black.

Someone suggested configuring the NOOBS/SC card. Is this necessary? How to do it?
Another suggestion is to modify config.txt to work with VGA. When I plug the SD card into my apple I see no config.txt file.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards, Mike

P.S. Is one flash of the green light good or bad?
