Codec

Sat Apr 23, 2016 2:25 am

Hi Have found some video files won't play and I wonder if I need a special codec or licence? (They're not mpeg I do have that licence)

I have a dump from mediainfo - should I post that here ? They may be "HEVC" if that helps.

Thanks for any help.

HEVC is complex and the Pi has no accelerator for it (unlike
h.264). Software decoding fullHD@30fps might or might
not work fluently on the Pi3 (but never on the Pi1 or Pi0).

• Don't like the board ? Missing features ? Change to the prosilver theme ! You can find it in your settings.
• Don't like to search the forum BEFORE posting 'cos it's useless ? Try googling : yoursearchtermshere site:raspberrypi.org

High Efficiency Video Coding is H.265. No RPi has hardware acceleration for that.
