Anyone have a recommended powered USB hub for the RPI3? Preferably one that doesn't back power and available on amazon.

I have used the Belkin model F4U038 for quite some time; got it from Amazon.

Its a great little unit ! I use it to power my Edisons and PyBoard, hung off one of my RPis.

The d-link sounds like it's power supply will drive a pi3. 2.5A just to the charging ports.
