How to connect Pi 3 to a Mac?

Sun Apr 17, 2016 10:07 am

Hi, I have recently purchased a Raspberry Pi 3 and have an SD card with Noobs already installed.

I have managed to connect the Pi 3 to my TV and all is working perfectly. Everything seems to appear as it should.

BUT, I am unable to attach to my iMac and I don't know why. I have managed to get the ip address and trying to connect via 'VNC Viewer' but an error comes up showing 'the connection was refused by the host computer'.

Do you know why this is? Can anyone support with how I connect to my iMac?

Many thanks

You need to switch Remote Management on and set the VNC password in Computer Settings in the Sharing Preference Pane on your iMac.

I found the method here to be quite easy & works very well.

Also, you can access your pi using "raspberrypi.local" instead of an IP address, even if the IP changes.

After you have VNC working, you can also control your pi from an iOS device by using the app "HippoLite" with vnc - that is really fun!
