WiFi radio for use with IPHONE app

Tue Apr 12, 2016 11:56 am

NeeBee here!
My daughter purchased an antique radio and I am wanting to install Raspberry Pi and some way to amplify the sound. Then use Wifi to connect to the internet radio. The radio will be about 100 feet from the router. Would I have to have an antenna?
Since it is enclosed inside the wooden case, would like to control it using my IPHONE.

This is pretty similar to what I'm going to do. You can use shairport-sync if you want to use the Pi as an AirPlay device.

You'll need an amplifier to connect the Pi to a speaker.

Is there a Raspberry module that will supply the necessary power to a 4 or 6 inch speaker which can be controller with the IPHONE?

I think you'd need a powered speaker. I would doubt that you'd get enough out of the pi's usb socket but I'm no expert on these things.

How are you planning on using the iPhone to control it?
