Wrong delivery

Sun Apr 10, 2016 9:28 am

Hi!

I've just received my Rasp Pi 3 from Amazon and the box is correct with the model and so on but the board shows "Raspberry Pi 2 B 2014" which is obviously wrong. I guess that they've made a mistake.. (?) but it's weird.. has someone ever happened the same?

Thank you

Amazon is usually very good about returns for this kind of thing. I think you might send you a prepaid mailing label with an RMA number. As the Pi 2 costs about the same as the Pi 3, you may want to consider whether the built-in wifi and greater heat generation of the faster 64-bit CPU of the Pi 3 are important for your project before returning it.

The pi3 is way better. trust me. Just invest in a $1 heatsink for the SoC, and $4 fan, or $6 fan/case and you are good to go. You need the heatsink and fan for the pi3, otherwise stick with the slower pi2.

RMA your pi2 and get your pi3. (FYI most stores are now selling the pi2 new for $29. Micro Center for example in the US).

Who was the *actual* seller? This looks rather suspiciously like a scam.

Amazon is notorious for sending wrong stuff. Especially if they fulfill the order. That is why I try not to use Amazon (plus their pi3 prices are ridiculous). Better off ordering the pi3 from the official distributor (which in the State's is MCM Electronics). MCM being the sister company of element14.
