Sound not working using either headphones or HDMI

Just received my Raspberry 3 and installed the Raspian OS. Everything is working fine but the audio. I tried various thinkgs described https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... -config.md, but unfortunately nothing is working. What should I do?

sudo raspi-config has an option in the advanced menu to enable audio.
Note: Any requirement to use a crystal ball or mind reading will result in me ignoring your question.

have the same problem on rpi3
have set the advanced option to analog but next time I reboot and try to pay with gmpc I get alway error message:All audio outputs are disabled.

I which config files may I have made a mistake?

Following above:
what I realy would like to achieve is to have a 3rd option on the VolumnControl Icon showing Analog/HDMI/BT-audio

Have configured all for my UE Mobile Boombox but fail to get it working.
