Fixed IP different location

Folks,

I understand the Pi uses a different method to configure network other than /etc/network/interfaces

If I fix the IP on the Pi then have to connect to a different network does dhcp default or would I have to reset it?

If your pi has a static IP on a particular lan, then connecting to another lan will work provided that your static IP is not conflicting it any device on the new lan, and your netmask matches the new one too. I suspect he default gateway should also match.

If your IP is 192.168.1.50 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0 then plugging into ant network whose IP addresses start 192.168.1.?? Will still work, provided nobody has .50.

On wifi, you might need to set up a different network said etc in the wpa_supplicant.conf file and in dhcpcd.conf too.
