Can't boot -- cmdline.txt?

I accidently (it now appears) chose the option in raspi-config to boot to the command prompt with autologin rather than using a password (pi and raspberry -- never altered it.

So now when I rebooted, it stalls and goes nowhere.

Rebooted again and now in recovery mode -- is there anything I can do here? Can I edit the cmdline.txt? look like that's the only thing I have access to.

Am I screwed? Maybe I can take the card out and edit a file?

Hold [SHIFT] during boot and you can trash & re-install your SDCard using the NOOBS "recovery" system.

Your other choice is another SDCard and a USB SDCard reader. Build a bootable card, boot the system from that. Mount the borken card in the reader, insert the reader into your RPI. Use the "rescue" system to fsck the bad card and get it back working. Or use the "rescue" system to recover your valuable data.
