Webmin How to attach HDD

Hi Guys....

Hope you can help... i have been searching all day (now 5:30pm here...) for the next step in the creation of a NAS...by that I mean (please excuse me using the incorrect terms....) I want to attach a HDD to the Pi via USB and be able to read/write from all my PC's on my wired network...yes should be easy for you experience guys...wire.....

I have Webmin and I have Samba....but where I always fail is:

1. getting the file path (as short as possible)
2. conntecting the HDD
3. getting the PC's to see the HDD

I could not find one video that I understood....they all had far too many steps and that confused the bejesus out of me...

I have installed the OS and Webine about 6 times and it is gettign very confusing.

So I am falling on my sword to say I have no idea and hope for some help....

Things are starting to fall apart - I thinK????
I did the sudo apt-get update and this happened>>>

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ ^C
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo dpkg --configure -a
dpkg: error: error removing old backup file '/var/lib/dpkg/status-old': Input/output error
pi@raspberrypi:~ $

is this a problem.....

Sorry I am very new to this and all teh video all work perfectly...mine does not...I think I have got all the possible erros....I really do not want to do it anymore...just trying to get the steps right...

Anyone willing to give a new guy some additional help
