FM Radio Recieving

Sat Apr 02, 2016 10:11 pm

Is it possible to receive FM radio on the Raspberry Pi with no add on boards? If so, how?

I have posted mostly with a Pi 2 running either Ubuntu MATE, or Raspbian.

What type of radio signal are you trying to receive?

I am not asking about sending FM radio signals, but receiving them. Is there any way at all to receive them through, say, a GPIO pin?

That thread discusses receiving FM radio. The general consensus is no, it's not possible.

What bands? Is it just the regular 88-108MHz commercial radio bands?

I am fairly certain the OP is not referring to building/using a software defined radio for like intercepting/hacking security systems that would use something like the 345 MHz radio freq....

I think the OP is simply asking if the pi3 can pickup OTA radio station broadcasts in the FM range (like a car radio or Walkman does).

And the answer is 'No'.

Exactly, it is NOT possible without extra hardware, unless the OP means internet streaming.
