Webcam setup help required.

Fri Aug 10, 2012 8:07 am

Being new to Linux, how do I go about adding a webcam to my Rpi?

In my spares box, I have a pair of Webcams which I hope to use, with the aim of creating an Nocturnal Animal cameras.

I plugged one into the Rpi, and lsusb reports it as 0C45:602a, which is described as a Meade ETX-105EC Camera. Am I correct in assuming this information came from the Camera itself, and not from the Rpi itself, because Rpi knows about this device

The question is, where do I go now?

Do I need a Driver, if so is one available, and how do I go about installing it?
If I can get it working, what software do I need to view the output (preferably GUI rather than CLI)?
