Wi-fi and bluetooth acting a bit weird

Thu Mar 24, 2016 5:38 pm

Hi everyone, thanks for having me in this forum. I'm fairly new to the Raspberry Pi and opened me a whole world of possibilities but this means that I'm also pretty unfamiliar with it. These are my issues at the moment with it:

- I have this wi-fi dongle http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/deta ... N823N.html . It worked flawlessly out of the box (I didn't manage to make it work in the NOOB bootloader but that's not a problem for me) but it's not working at the rated speed of 300Mbit but only at a 144.4Mbit transfer rate. How can I fix that? It's hooked to a FRITZ!WLAN Repeater 1750E connected to a Netgear D6200 modem/router so it should work at 300Mbit.

- I've found in my drawer an old bluetooth 2.1 + EDR dongle that I wasn't using so I decided to put it to work. If I'm accessing the RPi remotely through VNC or RDP the blueman applet is not working and the bluetooth will not work at all. Also I can only send files from it to my Moto G 2013, without having the option to send or receive files from my PC (both bluetooth 4.0 adapters).

I've been looking around but I didn't had much luck at all else I wouldn't be here asking. Thanks to everyone for all the answers may come my way.

Which PI are you using?

Everything (and I mean everything) passes through the usb hub chip of the previous PIs (its a bottle neck on the RPI B+ and 2B). If it works, then smile and be happy.

You may not see full speeds through that wifi adapter depending.

Yeah, I think I forgot the most important part: I'm using a RPi 2 and nothing is connected to the USB ports except for the wi-fi adapter so the overall bandwith is shared, I think, only with the micro SD. If I connect more USB devices the speed will not drop. Well I thought I could use the wi-fi at full speed since I'm trying to make a NAS/cloud storage out of it.

Comparison tests: USB 802.11n WiFi: 44.5 Mbits/sec (5.6 MB/sec)

So how are you measuring the speed ??
Rather than negativity think outside the box !
RPi 4B 4GB (SSD Boot) RaspiOS64 ARM64
Asus ChromeBox 3 Celeron is my other computer...

I just used the iwconfig command in the terminal and I took a look at the speed connection that is shown. I didn't do a real speed transfer test of any kind yet.
