keyboard is not working (solved)

Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:14 pm

I have a Raspberry Pi model B
Bin: Z12-03R
Dn: 6159183
I loaded the image "debian6-17-02-2012.img"
it seems to boot just fine. However I cannot login because it will not respond to my USB keyboard.
I tried two different USB keyboards.
I tried rebooting the system with the keyboard plugged in. ( I did this for both of the keyboards)
I tested the keyboards with other computers to make sure they are working okay.
When the keyboards are plugged into the Raspberry Pi, none of the LEDs on the keyboard are working such as the "capital letter lock" led or the "NUM LOCK" led.
I tried installing the image "2012-07-15-wheezy-raspbian.img". And tried all of the above, however it still did not respond to either of the USB keyboards.
I can't help but think that maybe something is not working correctly and I need to return it. However many times when I have this feeling often I discover it is my mistake. This is my first time trying Raspberry Pi. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

If you go to the wiki theres a page on Blind-Login it will at least temporarily get you past your primary problems.

http://elinux.org/RPi_A_Method_for_ssh_blind_login

Running this will actually allow you to run your RPi with just your ethernet and power there are also some other noob pages that may be worth a look. ;)
Noob is not derogatory the noob is just the lower end of the noob--geek spectrum being a noob is just your first step towards being an uber-geek ;)

If you find a solution please post it in the wiki the forum dies too quick

@tullytully
The RPi's USB sockets can't deliver as much power as those typically found on PCs and USB hubs. Keyboards with eg illuminated keys or integral USB hubs are likely not to work.

There are lists of known working and non-working keyboards at http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals#USB_Keyboards. (Some of the 'kernel panic' ones may in fact be OK with the later software/firmware on the RPi.)

Hey, it's working!
I tried an old Logitech diNovo cordless Desktop keyboard and now it works great!
you can even see it mention Logitech keyboard in the booting process.
Thanks for your help.

My keyboard (logitech k120) and mouse (logitech g5 laser mouse) are both in the list of working devices but they do not work on my pi. Their leds are off all the time and they're both unresponsive.

I've been trying to bypass this issue using ssh but i also noted that this pi is not networking.

Hope some of can help me.

Thanks!
