OpenELEC on existing installation

Hello Paspbarians,

I read that OpenELEC is now part from the Noobs installer. Very nice. But... How can I install it on my existing SD (with Noobs - Raspbian + OSMC)? OSMC may be deleted, but Raspbian I just configured, added all the wanted software (and recently did all that for the second time ).

If there's no easy way, I guess it is easiest to buy a second SD card. Although I would prefer if I could "clean" OSMC from the previous card, if I'm not using it anymore...

Can't add another OS unless you wipe and start again.

IMO get a 2nd SD card for OpenELEC and put it in a 2nd RPi.......

If I 'm sure, if I'm really going to use OpenElec, I'll do that. For now, I only want to get to know it.

What about wiping OSMC from this card?

OpenELEC and OSMC both run Kodi (which is the application that does everything).

OpenELEC is just a basic OS that runs Kodi, but doesn't do a whole lot more (although, it does come with more firmware by default).

OSMC still runs a normal linux OS in the background, and has its own skins/themes for Kodi.

If you want to install Kodi along with your copy of Raspbian:

While this is a bit more tedious and requires more linux knowledge, it can certainly be done. You can search the forums there are examples. In theory, all you need to do is dd the new partitions over the existing ones. Then some minor edits to some files (config.txt and cmdline.txt and fstab possibly, depending on the OS). One eay this can be done is by downloading OE and installing it. Then you can use a graphical tool like gparted and copy-paste the partitions over.
