New application not added to menu

Wed Aug 08, 2012 9:21 pm

Running LXDE on Raspbian wheezy. I have installed nautilus using Syanaptic and it runs fine if started from a terminal window or 'Run' but there is no entry in the Accessories or any other menu or desktop icon. In /usr/share/applications there is a file nautilus.desktop which looks to be correct. However the directory /home/pi/config/nautilus is empty. Unfortunately my linux/unix/hpux experience is now 25 years out of date and was all command line based - no X so I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Can someone point me the right way to get this on the menu.
Thanks

Thanks - I loaded Alacarte as mentioned at the above url and that soted it out for me. Pity both Nautilus and Alacarte do a good job of gobbling up precious space on the SD card :-(

Hi ferryman,

did the "manual" method of editing the config not work for you? It would only take a few byte :)

I am curious, how much space did Alacarte munch up?

My 8GB card went up from 77% used to 88% used.
Next time I'll do it manually :-|

Hi ferryman,

11%, 8GB SD Card... So it uses roundabout 880 Megs? Bummer...

Well, at least it seems to work for you for now.
