4.3" Inch Screen RCA to B+

Wed Mar 02, 2016 11:57 pm

Hello everyone, I purchased a generic 4.3" screen from amazon, wanting to hook it up to my raspberry pi B+ model. I also bought a Sony RCA AV Video Cable so I could use the headphone/RCA Jack on the B+ and connect it directly to the LCD screen. I powered the screen with a 12V 2A DC and connected the red RCA to the yellow screen RCA port, but there is no image on the screen. The power seems sufficient enough for the LCD and I'm pretty sure I'm matching up the cables fine. Any one have thoughts or help on the situation?

Try different video source (like a DVD player or VCR or cable box) to test the screen.

If you are using a stand alone version of Raspbian then the output should automatically switch to composite output when nothing is connected to the HDMI port at boot.

If you have done an OS install with NOOBS then the HDMI has probably been forced in a configuration file, see:

Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

I am using the standalone version of raspbian and I tried plugging the raspberry pi to a composite TV using the cable but still no image. Is it because the cable is faulty?

I rechecked my file and noticed that I had NOOBs downloaded, thinking it was just an image. I pressed shift on startup and then 4 repeatedly and I was able to get the connection working. Thank you A Lot!
