Help with my SD Card!

Thu Feb 25, 2016 2:55 pm

Disclaimer: I maybe a bit newbie to this, so don't judge me.
So I have downloaded the newest version of Raspbian Jessie and burned it onto a Transcend 16GB Class 10 Micro SD Card using Win32DiskImager. But when I always try to turn on my Raspberry Pi 2 ( after activating the new graphics driver), the system is stuck in a loop. I now want to edit the configurations via Parragon ( an EXT file manager for Windows) as the Raspberry Pi cannot switch on to the command line. I also do not want to format the SD Card. Can you please help me?

Disabling the graphics driver is simple:
Pop the card in your Windows PC. Then open config.txt with Notepad and comment out (or remove) this line:

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d
and save the file.

Thx DirkS. You helped me save time as I installed retropie using shell script and it takes a lot of time to do manually. Thx again and bye, sir.

As you have access to a PC and know how to use Win32DiskImager, now might be a good time to get into the habit of making a backup image before making any major OS changes. This approach got me out of a scrape many a time while I was still going through the "Oh dear! I've broken it again!" phase of getting to grips with Linux. :D

Thx all u guys. Next time I will be far more careful with my SDs. If you want to enter into the root files of the Pi, I suggest you have a look using this:http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ex ... nload.html Also, be careful and take your time when installing this because of the EULA nowadays. Many good programs are ruined by external sources bundling c***ware with them, so be careful and stay safe! :D Also, after install, if you want to access the ROOT partition, open My Computer or Windows + E and find a disk which has Local Disk as its name and is not your C: drive: Need help; PM me and I'll see what I can do. Cheers! :D :mrgreen:

To save any possible confusion, I'll just add at this point that nothing special is required to view or edit the /boot partition on your microSD card where your config.txt and cmdline.txt files live as this is in a FAT format that Windows already understands. Paragon will allow you to plumb the depths of the otherwise inaccessible EXT4 /root partition.

If you want to create an in-situ Raspbian Jessie backup image to any card large enough to hold the active file area, I've written a guide here to using rpi-clone...

...as well as creating a handy GUI shortcut to it.
