Mon Feb 22, 2016 1:28 pm

Hey Guys,

I want to remove the Trash icon (Wastebasket) from the desktop using command line. Is there any way to do this? I didn't find anywhere. I'm able to done this using GUI but not from command line.

Any help much appreciated :D

I found this post when looking for an answer to this question, so I figured it was a good enough place to post the answer I figured out.

In my case I wanted to change this for all user accounts to be created, so I changed the config at:

Code: Select all

/etc/xdg/pcmanfm/LXDE-pi/desktop-items-0.conf
With the edit:

Code: Select all

show_trash=0
If you're wanting to do this for a particular user the config would be located at (pi is the user in this example):

Code: Select all

/home/pi/.config/pcmanfm/LXDE-pi/desktop-items-0.conf
FYI found this by using a file watcher script mentioned here:
