Installing Jessie in Model B+ and using it in RPi 2

Thu Feb 18, 2016 9:55 am

I have a SD card that I just installed Jessie in it using a Raspberry Pi Model B+. I am going to buy the Raspberry Pi 2 that I will use in my projects so I do not know if I have to install Jessie OS again because the new model it has 4 cores and I do not know if I could lost performance or not. Does it matter this??

Many thanks for your help!

Raspbian Jessie will work in all models, it loads the applicable Kernel for the RPi model.
Rather than negativity think outside the box !
RPi 4B 4GB (SSD Boot)..
Asus ChromeBox 3 Celeron is my other computer...

No worry, it does not matter, you can swap between B+ and Pi 2 without issues and no manual actions required.

Under the hood: Raspbian has two kernels, kernel.img and kernel7.img and the relevant kernel is loaded automatically at boot, no user actions involved. The kernel7 for the RPI 2 makes the four cores available.
