Hi all. I've got two RasPis and two 2TB hard drives that I'm planning to set up as NAS servers. My intention is to have one at my house and one at my parents' house to serve as redundant backup. I intend to configure my laptop to backup to the my home folder (/home/doni49) on the NAS at my house. I also intend to make a home folder on the one at my mom's house for her to use for her backups.
Every night, the RasPi at my house will perform an rSync to copy files from my home folder to the RasPi at my mom's house. And the RasPi at my Mom's house will rSync her files to the RasPi at my house.
In such a scenario, would it be better to make two separate partitions on each NAS (one for the "Active" stuff and one containing the stuff from it's sibling at the other house)? Do you see any pros and/or cons of having one partition for it all?

You're going to have to split your directory structure, whether you put active directories on one partition and backup directories on another partition doesn't make an iota of a difference because they'll both be on the same chrome plated spinning thing.
