The first problem you list is an issue with WordPress functionality. The second problem I have also (but only on Win 7 + Chrome, OS X + Safari is fine). I wouldn't bother yourself too much about it, it's only a minor visual issue. Hopefully they'll be replacing the forums in a bit anyway.
