Official RPi WiFi Dongle 5GHz

Wed Jan 06, 2016 12:45 pm

I have the Official Wifi Dongle plugged into a couple of RPi 2s (one with Raspian, one with OSMC). Connects fine on 2.4Ghz but refuses to even detect 5GHz. Is this because the Dongle is not designed to work on that frequency or because neither of the linux flavours above have the drivers to allow the dongle to work on that frequency?

It does not support running at 5GHz. https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/usb-wifi-dongle/ 802.11b/g/n are 2.4GHz only.
