How to use MAKEDEV to access DLSR digital camera via USB as webcam?

You shouldn't need that on a system running udev.

Once again thanks for your reply.
Well, indeed, I see a file as video* or video0 in the /dev as a webcam driver is installed, however I do not see the same file for any of the DLSR digital camera drivers installed thus far. Although this is just a newbie guess, it seems that video* is something like a temporary virtual video recorder.

Take a look at dmesg | less as soon as you plug in the camera. That will tell you if Linux found a device driver for it.
