Pi in a BT Vision box?

Tue Nov 10, 2015 8:03 am

I have a spare BT Vision box as a result of a house move. I am wondering whether it would be possible to use the box with a Pi?

I know the box has an embedded OS, so I don't plan to salvage that. However, what I would like to do is use the rest of the components: power supply, fan, HDMI, USB, Ethernet, hard disk, physical buttons, maybe the remote...

Anyone have a view on whether this would be possible and how difficult it would be?

I'm an experienced programmer, but beginner with electronics! I figure we're talking some soldering and wiring, but not sure much after that!

Any advice (or reading material ) welcome.

in practice not a chance
you may be able to use the box, everything else probably not
the PSU may be OK - depending

Thanks for the reply. Is that a technical reason, or my own lack of experience/talent?

Technical, if you open up the Vision Box all you will see are circuit boards:

Gen 1 Silver: https://youtu.be/sWWqi-KEmFE
Rather than negativity think outside the box !
