PI in a commercial product

Tue Nov 03, 2015 3:24 pm

I'm thinking of offering a product that uses a Rasp PI and offering it with PI included or not included. Are there any legal ramifications to my doing this? (especially the "included" option -- I'm guessing the "not included" would be like many boards that are out there).

Thank you.

The main concerns are trademark and the software you include with it.

https://www.raspberrypi.org/trademark-rules/
(Don't try to pass it off as a raspberry pi product)

Check the GPL and the other licenses of whatever software you include. The raspberry pi firmware is redistributable, but check the oracle, minecraft and wolfram licenses if you intend to sell your products with those pre-installed.
(Don't include software you don't have the freedom to include)
