RPi-N64

Sun Nov 01, 2015 12:10 am

I am working to measure water temp and chemistry on an Aquaponics fish tank project. A non-working N64 console has come into my possession and I want to use it as the component base using a RPi B.
I plan to use the original on/off switch on the console to turn my RPi on/off. However, every project I have investigated use the B+ or 2 versions of the PI.
I want to mount a slide switch under the original N64 console on/off and power it through my RPi B.
Has anyone mounted a slide power switch to a RPi B model?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

What do you think might be a problem? Any switch that can handle the PSU current (2A) will work. Of course you have to shut down the Pi before switching off, and unless you are building a PSU into the console your switch will only control the 5V PSU output, so you really should unplug (or switch off at the mains socket) when the Pi is not in use. Thus the switch is a bit pointless.

An on/off switch is not ideal as it does not ensure the Operating System when switching off has actually shut down:

Rather than Mausberry the WittyPi looks better.

Thank you all for writing back.

Here are two methods:
M1 is a complete wiring with a push button-http://www.raspberry-pi-geek.com/Archiv ... spberry-Pi

M2 is a more preferred method (this on with a slide switch)-http://blog.petrockblock.com/2015/07/04 ... spberry-pi. However, this method appears to require the RPi (version 1 and 2) models A+ and B+.

M2 is what I am looking for, if it can be found for the RPi B version as it handles the shut-down sequence.

That hardware add-on will work on ANY raspberry pi (A/B/B+/A+ or 2B).
