Using windows 10 desktop to access Pi.

Tue Oct 20, 2015 1:11 pm

Hi.
I have spent many hours trying to use my Pi via my Windows 10 desktop. Two monitors, keyboards and mice on one desk is a bit cramped. I abandoned various methods I found online, including the 'help a friend' method because W10 Home doesn't have that facility. I have also abandoned my attempts to connect using the UltraVNC already installed on my PC for remote contact to my work PC.
Finally, I decided on xming and putty. Putty is OK. I managed to set a static IP address after a bit of a fight....(I was told to alter the word dchp [I think that's what it was] to 'static' using nano to edit. My Pi didn't have that word....it said 'manual' in that place in the text. So I changed that to 'static' and it seemed to work) But xming just doesn't do a thing. Nowt. Not a sausage. I uninstalled it in case it hadn't gone in properly....that was a fight too; had to use Revo in hunter mode!.... Then downloaded from the proper place and tried again. Nada. Nowt. Getting the gist, are you....
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO- is there a way to do this which isn't rocket science and a Noob....or nearly a Noob..... can do? I only want to be able to see the Pi screen on my Acer HD monitor and use the desktop's keyboard and mouse.
Thanks in advance.
Second question to follow shortly!

Install XRDP and use Remote desktop on PC
Enable SSH and use PuTTY on PC

Works perfect, any version of Windows.
