Raspberry PiPod

Tue Jul 24, 2012 2:16 pm

Hi all.
Here's a link to my blog post about my first completed project (well, Phase 1 anyway) - the PiPod.
It's not as pretty as some, but I'm happy with it!

And an image so you can see how it looks

The project was to get the following up and running and playing nicely:
* The Pi
* 3.5" car rear-view screen
* Bluetooth Rii keyboard/touchpad
* WiFi

Thanks to the Raspian team for a good operating system!

Does that screen give useable output? It looks too small to be any good - particularly using RCA.
Not trying to knock you at all - great project. Just curious about the screen. Would you find it OK to look at for prolonged periods of time? I realise that may not have been your goal in making a PiPod. :D

It's surprisingly clear when on the command line.
When it comes to the GUI, with default settings, it's very unclear. I set it to use only 320x240 resolution and it is much better, though of course the usable area is then tiny-tiny-tiny. But, it is very usable.
What I'm planning on doing eventually is just to use it remotely but to use the Raspcontrol project http://fusionstrike.com/2012/raspberry- ... aspcontrol so it displays on the folding screen, sort of like a systems monitor.

Do you still get a "white noise" or "cracking sound" when seeking or changing songs?

Thanks
