Color cast in raw files

Sat Oct 03, 2015 12:45 pm

Hi,

I'm playing around with the pi-cam. The pictures in jpeg are fine. However, if I shoot raw and convert it via raspi_dng and open it in Lightroom, the picture looks like pinky monochromes. As the jpeg is fine, I guess, it's either a problem of raspi_dng or Lightroom. test4.jpeg is the picture, which is ok and test4.exif.jpg is the picture, which I exported from Lightroom without any retouch/color corection etc..

Any guess, how to fix it? Thank you in advance?

To process RAW image files, the tool whether it be Lightroom, Photoshop etc needs a profile of the camera, or more specifically the sensor. I doubt very much that Lightroom etc has a profile for the RaspiCam. I doubt Adobe would invest in making a profile for the RaspiCam.

Unless you really need the RAW image, I'd go for something like TIFF format with lossless compression. Lightroom will have no problem with this:

dcraw should work:

but yields the same pinkish/purple result. my pi is up to date via apt-get update and upgrade + rpi-update. The camera was bought 1-2yrs. ago and is a raspi cam rev 1.3. maybe there was a firmware update for the cam?

Sorry, I didn't realise there were raw processors out there specific to the RaspiCam. I don't know if there are firmware updates. My only other guess is your camera is infra-red (black PCB) - i.e. it doesn't have the IR filter on the normal versions (green PCB).

I suspect that that version of dcraw is out of date - looks like the Bayer order is mixed up, and I vaguely remember some comments about that a while back. Did you use any flip or mirror functions when you took the picture? They can mess up the bayer order.
