New LCD board for the Pi launched on Kickstarter

Sun Sep 13, 2015 11:55 am

Pi-LCD is a low cost add-on board for the Raspberry Pi that allows most common 16×2 LCD modules, including the newer full colour RGB backlit variants to be easily connected to a Raspberry Pi. The backlight drives are fully buffered from the 5V rail to ensure the GPIO lines are not over-driven and using PWM with RGB backlit display you can create full spectrum of backlight colours.

The Pi-LCD is addressed directly from Raspberry Pi GPIO lines without the need to download any additional s/w modules (SPI / I2C are not used(, the board also include 3 monetary push switches

The kickstarter http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/420 ... your-raspb is running now with a range of backer rewards from bare PCBs through to fully built Pi-LCD modules, all will include access to example python code to demonstrate the board’s capability and as building blocks to develop your own applications.

you could do something more and add possibility to control display (and backlight) power (on and off)
i had to do that with a transistor (and some software..)

His kickstarter ran a year ago.https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/my ... escription
If you have all at the detail on Kickstarter you will see that my version includes bufferd drive for mono or tri colour LED backlights, it is also includes 3 user pushes and access to IC2 and 1 wire interfaces.

In terms of the range of displays you can configure it for common anode or cathode displays using onboard jumpers.

So not quite the same

I've just taken a look and think you can easily add a LCD board into the £12 reward. Yes it has more features than mine but mine was never marketed at being all singing and dancing but just a basic LCD screen add on for hd44780 screens giving the user extended gpio pins so they could then build whatever else they wanted. Good luck hope it does well and anyone wanting any of my mypifi boards they are available on ebay .
