All this depends almost 100% on where you live, which you do not mention.

While mahjongg definitely has a point, you can start reading up on working peripherals at http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals

My twopenn'th, based on cold hard (and brief) experience:

Don't scrimp on the power cable. Cheap cables lead to just enough voltage drop to make SD cards fall over during boot (error -110), which leads to inexperienced user (yours truly) suspecting branded SD card might be fake and shelling out good money on a preloaded card. Cheap cable is now in the spares box and I'm using a Nokia cable.

I can't give you a link for the cheap - but branded - SD cards coz blokey has sold them all  The preloaded card is Squeezy, so now out of date, but is a Fuji branded 4gig C6 card and set me back a fiver.

Don't try to rescue old PS/2 keyboard & mice using a USB to PS/2 adaptor - you'll just be buying another cable for the spares box.

I'd also advise checking the hardware wiki and "What peripheral" forum. If you've just placed your order then you'll have a bit of time to look around and shop carefully.
