RaspPi2, Octoprint, & TFT Touch Screen

Thu Aug 20, 2015 7:16 pm

I hope this is the right place:

So with my Raspberry Pi 2, I have downloaded the image for Octopi from https://github.com/guysoft/OctoPi . My plan is to use Octoprint to run my 3D printers. I have the 2.8" TFT Touch Screen and am trying to download the drivers for it onto my Pi (following the install instructions https://learn.adafruit.com/downloads/pd ... rry-pi.pdf). I don't want to re-write the whole sd card, I just want the parts needed for the screen to run.

I'm a newbie with Raspberry Pi and cannot for the life of me figure out where I'm supposed to install the drivers, add the codes, or anything else. I also want to add the commands for turning the #23 GPIO into an on/off button for the screen. I keep finding instructions that say to open a terminal window for this or that, but it's unclear to me where to find the terminal (or am I supposed to use the Terminal app in the applications folder on my Mac?). Where do I write commands? Where is the repository for my RP2?

I did try turning the RP2 on with after I downloaded the Octopi OS, the screen turned on but was blank, so I know the driver is a must.

I feel like whatever piece of information I'm missing is most likely something that should be obvious.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!!!

and did you try the DIYInstallerscript from page 15 of that manual?
and did it break the octopi system?

do you understand that octopi is a kind of remote thing,
when you want operate it you use the build in webserver interface
( any computer, any browser )
when you want touch the system login SSH ethernet or WIFI ( headless )
but if you still want try to install the TFT better do it on a octopi copy card.
