COAX input for B+ and Kodi

Sat Aug 15, 2015 8:43 pm

Hi,

I'm asking if there are any COAX input for the Raspberry Pi B+ (addons) that I can use with Kodi.

It's for watching live TV from antenna and use it as a DVR.

Thanks

USB TV Tuner based on a Realtek rtl2832u chipset are well supported under Linux Operating Systems.

Yes, I have seen this.

But can we enter a COAX cable inside this USB dungle? From an extern TV antenna?

For example, in in this product, I can see that there is the USB dungle, and then an antenna, but I don't see any COAX input.

Do you know a good place to buy it?

Thanks

That is a F-connector used for digital cable TV. look for a DVB-C (cable) usb stick instead of a DVB-T(terrestrial) or analog TV receiver stick. There should be plenty to choose from. if you can, find out the chipset used in the one you're going to buy and check if it has linux support.

If your TV antenna has an F connector you could use a F connector to Belling Lee (as seen on the USB dongle) adaptor.

Google "hdhomerun" from Silicon Dust.

Kodi supports it out of the box, and it has two tuners.

NOTE:

You CANNOT use this 99.9% of cable tv providers and channels, as cable TV encrypts the signals.

This is not cable TV. I have no provider, it is only OTA TV. With an antenna, directly on the TV.
