Bought a second hand Raspberry PI 1 B+

Thu Aug 13, 2015 1:34 pm

Hello Dears,

I have bought a second hand RPI 1 Model B+.

But when I recieve it and put it to 56 inch's Panasonic\s HDMI there's no screen.
But I see that two diods - red and green is lighting.

So I have contact the seller and he sait that the RPI has been tested before he send it to me.

Do you have any suggestions? :?:

There are several places which describe how to set up your Pi, and how to determine if it has booted successfully. Also how to set up HDMI output, and how the config files work.
Two examples below:

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=58151

http://elinux.org/RPiconfig

Check through these, and report your findings. If you can get HDMI output, all will be well, and we can then help you to tweak settings to get optimum.
If it has booted, but with no HDMI display we can perhaps suggest what to do.

Remember that the TV must be switched on first, with the correct HDMI output selected.....
It has been my custom to use Xeyes

Have you done enough research to have learned that your RPi needs a micro-SD card with correctly installed software before anything other than two LEDs illuminating will happen?

Just Kidding!

Dude I work at HP Software Support as Advanced Linux Server Administrator.
Do you think I didn't read ?!?!

So I have solved my problem.
The issue is coming from SD card.

It is strange because the fist microsd was Kingston 8GB Class 10 and RPi doesn't work with it.
I have change it with SanDisc Ultra 16GB Class 10 and now everything is working like a charm.

Advice to other beginners: dudes if your RPi doesn't boot but you think that you do all correctly, please try with different sd card because in my scenario the laptop reads the two sd cards, but one of them is unreadable for RPi.
I don't know the reason but it seems like a hardware issue.

Thank you for attention!

Have a great weekend.

When anyone reads a post, he or she is consciously or unconsciously forming an opinion as to where in the range of clueless idiot to computer genius the poster lies. That isn't about intellectual snobbery. It is about trying to read between the lines of the frequently sparse problem report and about pitching a reply at an appropriate technical level.

Unfortunately the only clues in your original post - the lack of technical details and the number of spelling and grammatical errors - did not suggest that you were at the position in the above range that you have since stated.

Also, in such a YABPP, (Yet Another Boot Problem Post) it is customary to mention that you indeed found and read the boot problem sticky, but it did not help you.

After having read the sticky you should have known, at the very least, that without a bootable sd-card the PI does NOT output video!
The sticky also categorically mentions you should try another SD-card, so you repeating that fact just confirms you did NOT bother to read the sticky.

you should also read this: http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Hello guys,

First I want to say sorry for being aggressive!

Also sorry for that I have missed this “little” detail that I have also followed this guide: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... windows.md.

After that the RPi don’t even show any signal.

Yes the TV have 3 HDMI cannels and I have tried all of them - nothing.

initially I thought I cheated by the seller and just want to do a something like “quick question” because of panic.

I know that I have already bought a second hand RPi and there’s no any guarantee that this will working even.

I also stuffing with UNIX and Linux since 9 years and think that make me angry is that you think I miss this little thing (about sd card with proper installing os).

About that I have already read the RPi doesn’t have CMOS also BIOS and the hardware clock always restarting, also read that Raspberrian have an additional setting that save the clock for currently powering off time.

About my English: if you know the HP is international company and I am not an worker with English language, so my English is not good - yes.

Also I am not in call center and don’t communicate with customers. I work in data center. But this even never be a criteria to be an ******.

Thank you for suggestions. Now everything is fine and don’t want to be in war with you specially with RPi users because this is something so beautiful like idea and project.

I have also tested that how Wordpress behaves on Quattro Core RPi 2 B+: Gorgeous! Incredible FAST! And I think I fall in love …

Also I have a project to do private green hosting (for me and my projects) with solar power bank but for now this is only a dream on paper but I hope to become a reality.

So thank you guys I will take note from your posts for sure.

Now I am enjoying at my first meetings with RPi : )

Enjoy and Peace!
