Using a raspberry pi 2 as web browser

Mon Jul 20, 2015 7:32 pm

I am wondering if the Raspberry pi 2 would make a good web browsing computer, for news site reading and posting to chat forums, as well as occasional IRC use. Currently that is all i do. Also i like the Idea of the riscOS operating system as it has that retro feel. Would this be a good choice for this task? The cost paired with the size, with the ability to mount on the back of an LCD computer monitor is very appealing to me. I am also a ham radio operator and anything that requires assembly and tinkering is a plus.

Thanks

Adam

Try it and see?

"Good Enough" is such a subjective measure, hard to give useful advice...

It works for me, but even the plural of "anectode" is not "fact"

Any pages relying on Flash will either be laggy or unusable. Especially on the Pi1 Flash content is a no-go.

• Don't like the board ? Missing features ? Change to the prosilver theme ! You can find it in your settings.
• Don't like to search the forum BEFORE posting 'cos it's useless ? Try googling : yoursearchtermshere site:raspberrypi.org

The RiscOS Web Browser is NetSurf http://www.netsurf-browser.org

Whether it is a good choice is dependent on your expectations, try it yourself ;)
