RAM refresh rate.

Wed Jul 18, 2012 9:30 am

Is it possible to lower the DRAM refresh rate on the Raspberry Pi ?

I heard that it's possible for other desktop linux distros to tweak the DRAM refresh rate in order to boost system performance, done through a /proc file ( I think )
But, is it possible with the Pi ?

Regards

AFAIK, lowering DRAM refresh rate would lower power consumption. How would it increase system performance?

My understanding is the processor is locked out while the RAM is refreshing, so less frequent refreshes means more time for the CPU to use the RAM.
Which, in theory, means a more responsive system.

I remember that there was some special DOS magic that I used many years ago to affect the RAM refresh rate. So, I know it's possible.
Or, maybe it was a bios setting. I can't quite remember.
