Panda Bluetooth 4.0 USB Nano Adapter

Sat Jul 11, 2015 8:01 pm

Wish I could remember where I read about it to link to them but this adapter worked straight out of the box for me under Raspbian and Kubuntu. In fact, it works better than the built-in Intel bluetooth on one of my recently purchased laptops. Have a pair of Tzumi bluetooth headphones that have been useless until now. I almost threw them in the garbage thinking they were defective.

Peer-to-peer networking hasn't worked right since Windows for Workgroups 3.11 :x

I bought two more of these from panthernetworks on ebay for US$13.99/each. It's the easiest way to transfer small files between different OSes.

I've never been able to get a bluetooth usb dongle to transmit sound to my bluetooth speaker. Get it connected and paired but no sound transmitted. Should be simple.

Just doesn't work in Raspbian for me and have given up on that distro.

sudo apt-get install pauvcontrol

After you connect to your speakers and start playing music, you should see the application listed in PulseAudio Volume Control with a drop-down list for all available output devices. Pretty simple really.

Raspbian + Clementine + 3.5" LCD = the ULTIMATE MP3 player. Now I'm going to build myself the ultimate GPS with a 5" LCD.

I think a Bluetooth GPS receiver like the TomTom MKII is what I'm going to use. USB GPS units suck too much juice. The WiPi won't work at the same time using a 2amp power supply. :(

I've got a PicoBlue Bluetooth Internet Access Point around here somewhere... maybe I don't need WiFi for nutin'.

If you're having problems try reverting back to older firmware or use the 2-15 version of Raspbian like me. I thought my problems were just with the Edimax WiFi but Bluetooth has been acting funny lately too. I'm sure they'll sort the issue eventually but until then the Ultimate MP3 Player(tm) must LIVE!!!!

I even transfered this screen shot from Raspbian to Kubuntu over Bluetooth -- it's just so much easier than peer-to-peer networking nowadays. All I had to do is click an accept button and poof the file was just there. It's like less security = more freedom, imagine that.

Total cost for Pi2 + 3.5" LCD + Panada Dongle + Tzumi Bluetooth Headphones = US$100
And thanks to the equalizer in Clementine my $25 headphones sound as good as $250 Dr Dre's (sucka.) :P

 oops, installed Debian 8.1 Jessie this weekend and messed up the Bluetooth myself. To get that magic drop-down in PulseAudio Volume Control you need to also install:
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio-module-bluetooth
Then it should look like this:
