MySQL 5.6 on Pi 2

Hi,

we need database with fractional seconds for our project, from the docs it´s supported only by MySQL 5.6.

Is it possible make stable server with this version at the moment? I also read MariaDB could handle it but I don´t figure how to make it working on Pi 2.

We using Raspbian but we can switch it to another distribution.

MariaDB makes a great replacement for MySQL and is stable. It's available for Raspbian Jessie (MariaDB 10.0 ~= Mysql 5.6). It's probably available somewhere for Raspbian Wheezy as well.

I've run it on a few Pis and other arm boards with great stability. I'm not using Raspbian for those machines, but I would expect it to work just fine anyway.

What are you using fractional seconds for? Do you need them in a TIME field, or can you just store them in a DECIMAL field?

@ame: We measure light intensity from sensor and then link it with stored GPS location of car to generate heatmaps of town. On 5.5 version number is rounded and it looks really bad.

We now using Windows PC for it with MySQL 5.6.x and it works well, but we want to transfer database to Pi 2.

It's not available with Wheezy. You need to use the Jessie repo to get MariaDB.
