Can I sell a product made with Raspberry Pi?

Mon Jul 16, 2012 11:05 am

Hi,
I asked this on Twitter but I think it might need a discussion.

I am not currently willing to sell a Raspberry Pi, I have just some ideas.
I was thinking of maybe selling special versions of a software with a Raspberry Pi that would boot with the software directly (at the start of the OS, not replacing the OS). It is interesting for very specific softwares, not for everything obviously.

It made me think that I didn't see anything about selling the Raspberry Pi you bought as part of another product, like a robot or something.

I know that it is not the purpose of RPi, but what is, technically, the rights of the one buying one? He can do anything once he get it? Or are there some legal restrictions?

This subject was discussed couple times on the forums already. Here are some links:

I'm sure you can find some more using forums search (or better yet, using google).

Thanks, I thought that if it was not in the rather complete FAQ, then nobody asked.

So it is allowed.
