The SD card slot on my raspberry pi broke when I was inserting a card. I tried desoldering the old slot to replace with a nice new one I found at my local parts store. It almost worked when the DAT1 solder pad just broke off, just leaving a small patch of circuit board without any soldermask or solder. What can I do? Do I really need a new pi? More importantly, is there any alternate place where the DAT1 pin comes up?
On the schematics you can see that every data pin is connected to a resistor. If you can solder very well, you can try to connect the pad here using a wire.
Hi,
I found the resistor. I am going to solder it tommorow (more light, and I will be less tired). I found that it was resistor 50 I needed to solder.
Thanks.
I don't have my camera now, I will post them soon...
Do you want me do desolder the wires (I tried directly wiring an SD card when the reader method didn't work)?
Wait, just realised the solder was shorting out somewhere, so now its working!
Thanks. Also, as I now use a 6 inch copper wire for the sd card connections, I bypassed the resistor, as the wire had about 30 ohms of resistance.
