Plex media server on pi 2

Just got plex media server running on the Pi 2 by following this guide:

But I can't stream video to PC or Android through plex without pausing for a second every 5 seconds.

I have this pi attached to a USB HDD and the pi also shares that out as a samba share.

This isn't bandwidth, as I can play same films without problem over pi's samba share on both pc and android
(ES explorer and VLC on android)

Any ideas ?

Some kind of transcoding thing? Maybe the server is transcoding the video in real time which is taking up too much cpu? Or maybe you are using wifi and there are interferences or other disturbances? Or maybe even a QoS-thing with the router?
