May be the firmware is missing?
I have an TL-WN722n (from TP-Link too) and without the manually to target copied firmware-file /lib/firmware/htc_9271.fw it does simply nothing.

A: What does the command 'cat /dev/urandom', can you tell me please?
B: Yeah, that's very simple: It feeds your cat with radioactive material!
