no sound, youtube, ubuntu mate

I am now using ubuntu mate and it is working ok.
Can play youtube videos but no sound in youtube.
Still trying to configure mate.

It's the same as in Raspbian. From a Terminal:

sudo nano /boot/config.txt

Ensure it contains (I assume you are using audio over HDMI):

hdmi_drive=2

You may also want to add:

hdmi_force_hotplug=1
config_hdmi_boost=4

Save (CTRL+O). Reboot.

That should fix any audio issues.

If audio stutters in YouTube try a lower resolution video - there's no hardware acceleration (yet) so don't expect to play HD content in a browser (at this stage).

I had a similar problem with my install of ubuntu mate on my Pi 3,
adding

hdmi_drive=2  

fixed the problem, but now
I can't play sound of any kind and any app (even the system sound test)
without it skipping and popping. What should I do next?
