I cannot longer log in to Raspberry Pi

Wed May 13, 2015 3:13 pm

I have been working with mi Pi a while ago and I always log in with the well known:

raspberrypi login: pi
password: raspberry

but now it does not work, this is what happens:

Code: Select all

Raspian GNU/Linux 7 raspberrypi tty1

raspberrypi login: pi

Login incorrect
raspberrypi login:
it never asks for password, I tried with another sd card with Raspbian installed and it worked fine, I changed the keyboard but it does the same thing, I tried login with root, and it asks for password but I do not know the root password.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you so much

I have several suggestions:

1) press ctl-alt-f2 and try to login there... let me know if it works.

2) try to logon via ssh from another machine, if possible... let me know if that works.

Did the machine power off without being shutdown ? You may have a corrupted SD card.

Has it been on the open Internet with the default password of 'raspberry'. You may have been hacked.

Do you have a secondary userid? If not, well, this is why its important (for everyone reading, words to the wise)

Are you using a UK keyboard? Or something alien?

Try typing "raspberry" in as the ID (which gets echoed as you type) so you can be sure that it comes out correctly.
