I am pleased to report that my Bitscope Micro is now working properly on a Pi B+, and I expect, will do so on the A+ and B models resting on my bench as well.
All the issues/concerns outlined in a previous post (Bitscope Micro – A cautionary tale) have been, or will be soon resolved.
Problem - Unable to adjust grid-line intensity for easy viewing – Bitscope to issue software update.
Problem – unable to get the Bitscope Micro and Raspbian Wheezy image dated 2015-02-16 to play well together – when the Bitscope-dso was installed on the Pi the Bitscope Icon did not load to the desktop – and it appears my uninformed attempts to correct the problem resulted in the Bitscope-dso freezing.BitScope DSO | Color Control [FD27C-02]
The BitScope DSO software will soon be updated allowing control over the selection of colours (and brightness) used for various display features including the channels, graticule (aka grid) and digital phosphor.
Previews of this release will be made available for most platforms soon (planned for June).
BitScope Support
This issue has been resolved with a new release of Raspbian Wheezy dated 2015-05-05 (this may or may not have contributed to the resolution of this issue) and the introduction in early May of DRUM ROLL – Bitscope Support on-line hosted by Trello https://trello.com/b/Tzgjdmv9/bitscope-support. One can also arrive at this page by following a link at Bitscope.com/support.
Regardless how you arrive at the support site, if you navigate to General Questions on the support site you will find information on How to add the (Bitscope) desktop icon on Raspberry Pi. This information was provided by Karl-Ludwig Butte (the person who authored a 3-part series featuring the Bitscope in MagPi). I followed Karl's guide, rebooted and presto the Bitscope-dso works as expected.
More good news in addition to Bitscope now having a proper support page (link) there will soon be a proper Bitscope Community hosted by Element 14!
It appears Bitscope has a strong commitment to supporting the Raspberry Pi/electronic hobbyist community/market and that is a good thing, indeed! Three cheers for the mates at Bitscope!
