RPI2: not booting at power up: what is the trick?

Wed May 06, 2015 8:46 am

Hello all,

My RPI 2 not booting on power up (when I plug the 5v)
I need to short the "run" pin.
I think all RPI2 do that

This is a problem for me. I would like it boot at power up.
Is there a software trick to do that or do I put electronic component (like a capacitor) on the "run" pin??

Thanks all

Emmanuel

No. All RPis boot when you apply power, including the RPi 2. There must be something wrong with your system.

When applying power the RPi boots and eventually seeks a SD Card Boot Partition.......

If it doesn't boot read viewtopic.php?f=28&t=58151 as that covers most of the common failures.

It sounds like it could be a power problem to me. The PSU is possibly not giving a steady 5V when the Pi is connected, so the Pi doesn't initialise correctly. Shorting the RUN connector after the voltage has settled resets the Pi and lets it boot.
