Expand Filesystem. Option 1 missing

Fri May 01, 2015 7:48 pm

hi

Any ideas on why i can't see option 1 in config...the one used to expand file system boot to full partition size.

My options start at 2. Not overscan, can i can't select 1.

Cheers, Geoff.

what are you using as OS?
do you use the latest official distro (Raspbian [2015-02-16])?
do you use latest official NOOBS? - NOOBS expand your filesystems already to its maximum.
{ I only give negative feedback }

hi

Thanks for your reply.

I use latest Rasperian and I've updated bios? and OS using apt-get rpi update and just normal update / upgrade.

I've done a few rebuilds and I never see option 1. Oh, I also upgrade the tool when from memory is option 9 or something.

Cheers, Geoff.

Rpi-update gets you the current *test* version, as I understand it.

If you have installed Raspbian via NOOBS, then afaiaa NOOBS undertakes the partitioning.!

Have you installed Raspbian without NOOBS ??

fyi as above stated rpi-update is Testing and not recommended unless you have a specific issue which can be resolved ;)

Both Overscan and Update are in the Advanced menu, and they are numbered A1 and A9/A0. Expand Filesystem is in the main menu and numbered 1. So it is very unclear whether you are looking in the right place.

There is no logic to omit options from the menus, even if they are irrelevant. If the numbering literally starts from 2, as you may or may not be claiming, then there may be a problem with the display.

For instance if your terminal is exceptionally small (eleven lines or fewer) then option 1 may be off the top of the screen. That could also happen with very incorrect overscan settings, or if your terminal emulator is not configured correctly for cursor positioning.

These problems could prevent you from seeing option 1, but would not prevent you from selecting it. What happens when you run "sudo raspi-config", then press Enter again to select the default option?

+1

Do you see a heading of "Raspberry Pi Software Configuration Tool (raspi-config)" at the top of the menu screen?

Or is "2 Change User Password Change password for the default user (pi)" the first visible line?

Can you post the output from
df -h
sudo fdisk -l

commands.
