Bistable Switch activated by RTC alarm

Sun Apr 26, 2015 7:59 pm

Hello everyone !
I m working on my project that is supposed to be on 3 minutes every hour (kind of a complex clock) and working on battery ... it would be perfect to be able to turn the whole system off for those 57 minutes left
I ve found ,any 'solution' i m more or less confortable with
-To programm a picaxe chip related to an RTC and to a realy ( with some kind of system between the chip and the relay for the chip can't supply enought current)
-A system using the alarm signal of an rtc chip (link to either a transistor or a MOSFET p channel since the alarm signal is caracterised by a low active signal ...) But i dont really understand this fonctionement of either of this components.

But wouldn t a bistable pulse switch do a trick linked with the same idea to a rtc clock (or two, their so cheap that s not really a problem, one to turn it on every hour and one to turn if off 3 minutes later) ?
(thinking of http://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-12V-Button-P ... 1110500204 with a ds3231 rtc)

By the way my system will be using a lithium 5v battery so that's said.

Thank you !
